Silk Road Project: China trains 30 Ivorian talents in logistics and supply chain management

A Sino-African seminar on logistics and supply chain management talents starts this June in Abidjan, the economic capital of Côte d'Ivoire. The opening ceremony of this important training took place, this Saturday, June 5, 2021, at the Sofitel Hotel Ivoire in the presence of representatives of the Ivorian Ministers of Transport and Trade.

Launched in 2013 by His Excellency Xi Jinping, President of the People's Republic of China, the project "Silk Road" estimated at 1200 billion dollars must connect China to Europe and Africa by land, rail and sea through the construction of huge infrastructure. Thus, in the implementation of this project, the government of the municipality (province) of Chongqing, Chinese city that hosts the "Km 0" of the "Silk Road" has offered scholarships to 30 young Ivorians to attend a training course focused on "talents in logistics and supply chain management.

The courses which were initially planned to be held face-to-face since May 2020, with a trip to Chonqing in China and the stay fully supported by the municipality of Chongqing, are finally held online from this month of June 2021 due to the pandemic of Coronavirus. The auditors of these courses, selected from private and public companies in Côte d'Ivoire, will be trained for one month by the School of Urban Management of Chongqing. This training will be provided in 16 modules, 12 of which will focus on transport and logistics and 4 will focus on Chinese culture.

And this in order to allow participants, not only to improve their skills in transport and logistics to take an active part in the project "Silk Road" but also to immerse themselves in the culture and tradition of China for a better knowledge of China in its ambition to open up to the world while promoting economic, trade and cultural exchanges with the Ivory Coast and other African countries.

On site in Côte d'Ivoire, the training is led by You Chunhui, Director of Golden Eagle, a Chinese company specializing in logistics and which is present in Côte d'Ivoire since 2019.

The opening ceremony of this Sino-African seminar on talents in logistics and supply chain management was supported by the state through the presence of Ahmed Diomandé, Director of Cabinet, representing the Minister of Transport and Eric Ouattara, Technical Advisor, representing the Minister of Trade and Industry.

These authorities thanked the municipality of Chongqing and the Chinese government for this great training opportunity offered to Ivorian executives and were pleased with the quality of bilateral relations between the People's Republic of China and Côte d'Ivoire
